Sermon Discussion Questions
- How do you relate to the crowds who desire bread in this passage?
- The people walk away when Jesus says they must eat his flesh and drink his blood. Putting yourself in their shoes, why was this their response?
- What are the things you don’t have that you find yourself grumbling about?
- Consider the words of CS Lewis “It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” How does this resonate with you?
- Do you find yourself focused on the gifts rather than the giver? How so? Consider ways your home group can help you pause and consider the giver.
- What does focusing on eternity provide for us in the now?
- How can we begin to cultivate a mindset focused on eternity?
